Joining YP at 15 years old in year 10 was definitely something I don’t regret. My mum introduced me to the company, and to say it was a lifeline is an understatement. Young professionals have always been an imaginary hand on the shoulder, they motivated me through their webinars to research different occupations and broadened my understanding of fields I never thought I’d be interested in.
I’m in year 13 now, and still going strong with YP. I’ve helped at the summer conferences where I ran LinkedIn Headshots in an orderly manner with my fellow ambassadors, while meeting loads of people which was an amazing experience for me as someone who can be a bit of a chatterbox. I met most of the young professionals team like Dan, Molly and Kav who are one of the most talented individuals I know.
My biggest regret? Not putting my foot in more doors. In more opportunities.
You don’t ask, you don’t get.
Ever since I’ve joined, I’ve made countless new friends and countless connections on LinkedIn, which anyone is free to add for a chat. I’ve connected with recruitment agencies, lawyers, professionals in finance and engineering. I’ve shared opportunities with friends, peers and colleagues and it’s definitely rewarding to be able to help someone with their career. Young professionals is all about young people boosting each other and themselves after all.
